Wakefield Central NPT - recognition for their Protection of Vulnerable Victims |

Dear Resident,
On Friday 19th June, the West Yorkshire Policing Awards were held in honour and recognition of the best that West Yorkshire has to offer and we are delighted to announce that Wakefield Central NPT received an award for the 2nd year running. The Adams McGill award for the Protection of Vulnerable Victims, sponsored by Bluestar, was won by Operation Mullside from Wakefield District. Over a two-year period, Wakefield Central Neighbourhood Policing Team and the Child Vulnerability and Exploitation Team (CVET) uncovered a highly organised criminal network operating across several counties. In August last year, officers identified a disturbing shift, with vulnerable children being exploited to replace adult drug dealers. In a groundbreaking move, the team secured gang injunctions against key offenders, restricting their movements and safeguarding vulnerable children. Breaches of the orders led to prison sentences and the dismantling of the network. Operation Mullside changed lives, strengthened safeguarding practice and set a new standard for victim-centred policing. Amazing work! Pictured below receiving the award is Inspector Paul Fraser with PCs Gleeson, Garlick & Gale from Wakefield Central NPT and colleagues from Wakefield District CVET.
